Your Enrolment Journey

Applications for Years 9–13 are accepted throughout the year. Year 9 is a major entry point, and applications for the following year usually close in March of the previous year. Applications received before the published deadline will be considered as part of the main intake process.

For Year 9 applicants, enrolment decisions are based on the contribution a student can make to the College environment and the extent to which the College can support the student to be their best. Familial ties with the College are also considered, with special consideration given to applications received within the published timeframe from:

• current St Andrew’s College Year 8 students;

• siblings of current St Andrew’s College students;

• siblings of past St Andrew’s College students;

• children of former St Andrew’s College students.

Application process

1. Begin the enrolment process by completing the appropriate application form and paying the non-refundable application fee.

2. Once your application is received, your details will be added to our database so we can keep you informed as the process progresses.

3. We will contact prospective students to request copies of academic reports from previous schools and a short two-minute video submission introducing themselves.

4. Once all application paperwork has been reviewed, students may be considered for an interview. All students new to St Andrew’s, including those who did not attend the St Andrew’s Preparatory School, and children of Old Collegians, will be considered for an interview. If your child is a sibling of a current or past student, interviews are optional. The interview is relaxed and informal and is an opportunity for us to learn more about your child and for your family to learn more about St Andrew’s.

5. If the application is successful, a formal offer of enrolment will be made. Offers are made holistically in line with the College’s Admissions Policy, reflecting our values and special character. If an application is unsuccessful at this time, your child will be offered a place on our waitlist.

6. As part of your offer, you will be given a clear Acceptance Date. By this date, a non-refundable acceptance fee is payable. This includes the student’s life membership of the Old Collegians Association, plus a refundable bond. The bond is only refundable to students who have attended the College for a minimum of six months, and will be repaid when they leave, subject to any outstanding charges.

7. If your child is entering Year 9 and their enrolment is confirmed, they will be asked to sit a placement test in July. Results from this test, along with academic achievement at previous schools, will help determine their core curriculum classes for the following year.

There is strong demand for places in the Preparatory School, and at many year levels the number of applicants exceeds the spaces available. Applications are accepted year-round, with consideration given to a range of factors, including siblings of current students and children of alumni.

Most children are accepted by the end of Term 2, in late June, in the year before they are due to start.

3. Interviews and/or school visits are part of the enrolment process across all year groups. Pre-school visits are undertaken for all New Entrants. The enrolment process for Year 7 also includes a literacy assessment.

4. For children with additional learning needs, we require a copy of any existing cognitive, psychological, educational, or SLD assessments. These should be provided when submitting your child’s latest school report, or at the interview or assessment stage, before an offer of enrolment is made. Please note, failure to provide all required information could result in an offer of place being withdrawn.

5. If an offer is made, in line with our Admissions Policy, you will be given a clear Acceptance Date. By this date, a non-refundable acceptance fee is payable. 6. Preparatory School applications will roll over into the Secondary School. Applications for the Secondary School can also be brought forward to the Preparatory School, with no need to re-apply.

At St Andrew’s College Pre-school, we understand that choosing an early childhood centre is a significant decision for families. Once you have decided that our Pre-school is the right option for your child, please follow the enrolment process below.

1. Begin the enrolment process by completing the appropriate application form and paying an application fee.

2. If you later decide to apply for a place in the Preparatory School, a separate application will need to be submitted. However, you will not be required to pay a second application fee. Please email prepenrol@stac.school.nz to have this fee waived.

3. Once your application is received, your details will be added to our database so we can keep you informed as the process progresses.

4. Your child will be added to the waiting list, and placements will be confirmed approximately two terms prior to your desired start date.

5. Once placement is confirmed, we will ask you to confirm your enrolment details.

6. You and your child will then be invited to join us for a pre-entry tour of the Pre-school and to meet members of staff.

International or Foreign Fee Paying students must be offered a place at St Andrew’s College before applying for a student visa or permit to enter New Zealand.

Before applying, families should read the important information in the International Students section of the website, then complete the Foreign Fee Paying (International) Student application form.

AEAS Testing
International applicants for whom English is a second language must sit an entrance test administered by AEAS. AEAS test results provide information about the student’s English language proficiency and general ability.

The AEAS Report will be considered alongside other information provided by the family when the student’s application is reviewed. AEAS testing is available around the world, and students can register online. Your agent may also assist with the registration process.

A copy of the student’s AEAS Report must be included with the enrolment application.
