Enrolment and Fees

The Enrolment Process

Thank you for your interest in St Andrew’s College. Our aim is to ensure enrolment with us proceeds as smoothly as possible, and you are kept informed every step of the way. If you have questions or concerns at any stage, please do not hesitate to contact our Registrar, Julie Watson, on 03 940 2016 or jwatson@stac.school.nz.

Please note, the following processes relate to domestic student (permanent and time-bound) applications only. Please visit our international section for information on applications by foreign fee-paying students.

Here’s how the process works:

Students in Years 1 to 8

  1. Applications into our Preparatory School (Years 1 to 8) are welcomed at any time. However, most children are accepted during Term 2 (late April – early July) of the year prior to starting.
  2. Begin by completing and returning the appropriate application form, which can be downloaded using the link on the left or obtained by contacting the College. An application fee is charged at this time.
  3. Upon receipt of your application, you will be loaded onto our database, ensuring you receive important information as the process progresses.
  4. No formal interview is required as part of the application process. However, you will be invited into the school to meet the principal and view the unique St Andrew’s learning environment.
  5. If an offer of enrolment is made, we ask you to confirm acceptance within one month. An acceptance fee is payable once you have confirmed enrolment.
  6. In most years, and at most year levels, the number of applicants exceeds the spaces available. When this occurs, applicants are ranked and those not immediately successful will be wait-listed.

Students in Year 9

  1. Applications to study at Year 9 level are accepted all year.
  2. Begin by completing and returning the appropriate application form, which can be downloaded using the link on the left or obtained by contacting the College. An application fee is charged at this time.
  3. Upon receipt of your application, you will be loaded onto our database, ensuring you receive important information as the process progresses.
  4. During June we will contact you and request copies of academic reports from your previous schools.
  5. If you are shortlisted for entry, we will invite you in for an interview. This is an opportunity for us to learn more about you, and you to learn more about St Andrew’s. The atmosphere at this interview is relaxed and informal.
  6. If your application is successful, we will make a formal offer of enrolment during July. If your application is unsuccessful at this time, you will be wait-listed.
  7. We will need to know if you are accepting our offer by late July, at which time an acceptance fee is payable.
  8. As an enrolled student, you will be asked to sit a placement test in September. Results of this test, along with academic achievements at previous schools, will determine your core curriculum classes when you join us the following year.

Students in Years 10 to 13

  1. Applications to study in Years 10 to 13 are accepted all year.
  2. Begin by completing and returning the appropriate application form, which can be downloaded using the link on the left or obtained by contacting the College. An application fee is charged at this time.
  3. Upon receipt of your application, you will be loaded onto our database, ensuring you receive important information as the process progresses.

  6. If your application is successful, we will make a formal offer of enrolment during October. If your application is unsuccessful at this time, you will be wait-listed.

  8. As an enrolled student, your academic achievements at previous schools will determine your core curriculum classes when you join us the following year.

Pre-school

  1. Begin by obtaining an application pack from the pre-school. You are most welcome to visit us and view the school in action at this time, if you wish.
  2. By completing and returning the application form included in the pack, you will secure your place on our waiting list.
  3. Placements will be confirmed approximately two terms prior to your desired start date.
  4. Once placement is confirmed, we ask you to complete an enrolment form and pay a deposit, which will be credited to your first account instalment.
  5. You are then invited to join us for a pre-entry tour of the school and to meet our members of staff.
