Our U18 Girls Light Weight Four led the way at the recent Maadi national rowing championships, taking gold in the A final and inspiring the rest of the St Andrew’s squad to their second best ever Maadi result.
On top of the gold medal-winning performance of Amanda Rowe, Louise Thomas, Maryann Henderson, Pip Bishop and Harriet Riley (Cox), our Girls U18 Quad team (Katherine Millar, Ella Prier, Beatrix Heaphy-Hall, Maryann Henderson and Harriet Riley (Cox)) stormed into second place, as did Sam Crosbie in the U18 Boys Single. Sam then teamed up with Luca Killick, Joe Stuart, Andrew King and Robbie Coslett (Cox) to take bronze in the Boys U18 Quad, while Beatrix Heaphy-Hall rounded out the stunning medal haul by earning bronze in the Girls U17 Single.
As a result of their performances at Maadi, Sam Crosbie and Beatrix Heaphy-Hall were selected as New Zealand trialists for the forthcoming World Championships in France. Ella Prier and Joe Stuart were selected to trial for the U18 South Island team.
