Nicolaas Johnstone (Year 12) and Sarah Wright (Year 11) are enjoying the view from the very top of the world of school Science, following outstanding achievements in the recent Australian Science Competition. Both achieved the equal top score in their year group, for all participating schools in New Zealand and Australia. The annual competition takes the form of a multiple-choice quiz.
Meanwhile, Natalia Chen (Year 9) and Merrila Babu John (Year 10) rank among the top 30 mathematicians nationwide in their year groups, following the announcement of results in the National Bank Mathematics Competition. Merrila is the only Year 10 student in Christchurch to achieve this feat. The competition, run at Years 9, 10 and 11, sets five broad mathematical challenges and asks contestants to show all working in calculating their answers.
