Giving to StAC

Why Give?

Chapel7581 533x2

The giving of time, money, resources and expertise by members of the school and wider communities is essential to the prosperity and vitality of St Andrew’s College. In fact, the College’s very existence is attributable to the donation, as far back as 1855, of three acres of land for the establishment of Christchurch’s first Presbyterian church and school.

Today, philanthropy and giving in many other forms remain critical foundation stones upon which the College builds its diverse educational offering to students. Tuition fees pay the teachers and keep the lights on, but the very special spirit of opportunity that is such a feature of life at the College is generated by the parents who volunteer in the cafeteria, coach sports teams or help organise special events, and the Old Collegians who acknowledge and express the connection between their alma mater and their outstanding success in life.

St Andrew’s College welcomes and celebrates the generosity, energy and talent of all who wish to contribute to our future. Your gift, no matter what its scale or nature, will help to enhance the St Andrew’s experience for students of today and tomorrow.

2011: A year of Community and Generosity at St Andrew's College

Hallways, the quadrangle and the cricket pitch are quiet today.  The campus feels empty with students and teachers away for the holidays.   Such quiet allows for contemplation, particularly at year’s end.  It has been a challenging year for all of Canterbury, but at St Andrew’s College we leave the year feeling optimistic.

The St Andrew’s College community, as a microcosm of Canterbury, bodes well for the future.  We have seen and experienced an outpouring of support and concern for the College, the students, the staff.  People have set aside personal fears and worries to work for the College, ensuring that it maintains the course and sets new standards for the months ahead.

Each act, be it small or large, speaks of individual and collective fortitude moving us beyond difficult times towards a period of growth and new beginnings. We are thankful for the St Andrew’s College’s leadership—the Rector, the Board of Governors, the Foundation Trustees—for it is this collective stewardship which makes the College of today so durable.

We are thankful for our Old Collegians who lend their support and collective good will from around the globe. We are thankful to our parents who never lost faith in the great education that the College provides. And we are thankful to our students and staff who are the life, energy and spirit of this great school.

Holiday wishes with great optimism for the New Year!
