Student donate art to St George's
The art auction held at St George’s Hospital on Wednesday 28th to raise funds for the St George’s Cancer Institute was very successful with a substantial amount raised for this charitable trust. The Institute leases out two accelerators, which deliver radiation to cancer patients at the St George’s Cancer centre and it also provides support to families of cancer patients.
Both the Prep School and Secondary School students conducted themselves in an exemplary manner. Special mention must be made of the two pipers from the Prep School, Juliette and Louis Newman, the String Quartet (Ella Harris, Alex McHugh, Cameron McHugh, Isaac Shatford) and Mrs Pip Disenbacher for her coordination of the art work.
Congratulations to the 50 Prep and Secondary art students whose works were much admired and sought after. It was a great thrill for students to see their artworks fetching bids over $100, some over $200 for such a worthy cause. Thanks also to the parents who supported the evening - it was memorable occasion.
