Medal Winning Build for StAC Prep School
St Andrew’s new Preparatory School building recently earned building company Mainzeal Construction a medal in the regional finals of the Registered Master Builder’s 2011 Commercial Projects awards. Mainzeal received a Silver medal in the Hays Recruiting Experts Worldwide Education Project category. It was the highest medal awarded in this class.
Graeme Earl, Construction Manager, Mainzeal Property and Construction said the company was honoured to have received the Silver award. “It is a reflection of the dedication and commitment our project team has invested into what is a great educational facility in what has been an exceptionally unpredictable period in all our lives.
“None of us ever dreamed that a project on the edge of achieving completion in late February, could be so drastically affected by recent acts of nature. The award for this project recognises a job well done by the entire project delivery team involved including the STAC team, Wilkie and Bruce, Powell Fenwick, Holmes and Mainzeal along with its subcontractors and suppliers.”
Principal of the St Andrew’s Preparatory School Jonathan Bierwirth says the award reflects the high standard of work and design that have gone into the building. “We focused on creating the ideal learning environment for students and Mainzeal were able to deliver on this vision to superior standards.”
He said the fact the building remained stable and undamaged after the February earthquake and subsequent aftershocks is testimony to the commitment by St Andrew’s and Mainzeal to do everything possible to create a leading edge educational facility in which staff, parents and students could have utmost confidence.
St Andrew’s General Manger, David Evans said the award was well deserved as Mainzeal had been an exceptional company to work with. “They were obliging, considerate to all our staff and students and always willing to “go the extra mile”.
A group of finalists is chosen from among the medal winners of each Master Builders regional event with the national winners announced at a gala function in November.
