In the Classroom

Learning Support

Our Learning Support staff aim to build self-esteem and confidence in students experiencing difficulties with their studies. They do so in a safe, caring and non-judgemental environment. Support is based on individual student needs and is priority assessed.

The Learning Support programme is run by highly qualified teachers whose fields of expertise include thinking and learning extension programmes, special education needs, and student counselling and support. Reading and language support is offered for students experiencing difficulties and study support is available to senior students.

From The Rector

Every year we begin the new school year with the hope and promise of all the good things a new year can bring. We also reflect on the student achievement and the success and challenges of the past year as we write our annual reports.

It is this reflection which benchmarks the success of our goals and suggests the way forward. The start of this year brought great news of outstanding student achievement in NCEA and Scholarship exams, with a highlight being the three top Scholarship marks in New Zealand for Agriculture, Drama and Music.

At this year’s Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival, St Andrew’s College entered two student directed pieces in the regional competition: a five minute scene from Macbeth and a 15 minute scene from Henry VI, Part 1.

Chapel Update

This year closes the chapter on the heartfelt story of the Memorial Chapel.

The Memorial Chapel has painstakingly been deconstructed and the area where it stood, levelled and grassed. The next phase is about rebuilding, and concept plans for the new Chapel are progressing to working drawings.
