Sports and Cultural

Student Leadership

Our comprehensive co-curricular programme is one of many contexts in which you can demonstrate and hone your leadership skills – standing you in great stead for life after school.

From the earliest years of involvement in the Preparatory School, you are encouraged to assume leadership of sports teams or cultural groups and take responsibility for bringing the best out of your peers – just as leaders in the sports, cultural and business worlds are required to do every day.  Motivation, organisation, communication and resilience are some of the essential skills taught.

Once you reach the Senior College (Years 12 and 13), leadership opportunities and responsibilities broaden considerably. You are invited to apply for a range of sports and cultural leadership positions, and your performance in the role is measured against established criteria.

Term 1 is always a very busy one on the school calendar and 2012 will be no exception, with a number of important school events. An exciting celebratory event will be the Official Opening of the New Preparatory School by His Excellency Lieutenant General The Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mateparae, Governor-General of New Zealand, on Thursday 23 February.
