Kapa Haka

GreenCentreOpening DSC 9946

Kapa Haka at St Andrew’s College is a wonderful opportunity to learn Māori performance, show leadership and develop cultural intelligence and understanding.

It is open to students of all ages in the College, with the only experience necessary being enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

Our Kapa Haka group performs at several special occasions during the year, including the Mihi Whakatau, various assemblies, prizegivings, opening and blessing ceremonies, and at a number of chapel services, including the Māori Language Week chapel service. The group also welcomes new groups or VIPs to the College.

Every year Kapa Haka works towards the Tūhono Festival, which occurs in the second to last week of Term 3. Our Kapa Haka group does a special performance at the End of Term 3 Assembly.

There are no costs associated with Kapa Haka. Practice is every Wednesday during the lunchtime during Terms 1, 2 and 3.

Co-ordinator: Rev. Paul Morrow
