How to Talk so Kids will Listen and Listen so Kids will Talk

By Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish

More news for Self-help

Book review written by Mrs Barbara Broughton. Mrs Broughton works in our Preparatory School with students in our Learning Support Department.

The book How to Talk so Kids will Listen and Listen so Kids will Talk, by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish is our family go to for effective communication and developing positive family relationships.

It's a guide to developing foundation skills for lasting relationships, engaging co-operation, promoting self-discipline, resolving conflict effectively and creating a positive family environment.

It is a social theory of how to positively approach guiding children’s behaviour. You do need to read and adapt to your personal situation. But there are a number of takeaways for us all.

A complimentary book Conscious Discipline by Dr. Becky A. Bailey, provides the brain science and research to back up the social theory of How to Talk so Kids Will Listen and Listen so Kids will Talk. Conscious Discipline is the quantitative science and is scripted if you choose to use it.
