Snow Sports

St Andrew’s College enters ski and snowboards teams in the Canterbury Secondary School Championships each year. We have the ability to enter a mixed team, boys’ team and girls’ team in each discipline. Team selection is based on previous skiing and snowboarding experience and ability.

Qualifying teams then go on to compete at the South Island Secondary School Championships, held at Cardrona ski field in September.

Students who participate in winter race training provided by the Mt Hutt or Porter Heights race departments can apply to have this considered as a part of their school sport participation. Students not doing club racing must also select another winter sport or cultural activity.

During Term 3 there are regular recreational trips on Sundays to Mt Hutt or Porter Heights ski fields. These trips are organised as a weekend activity for boarders and day students, with transport provided, and all costs charged to the students’ accounts.
