Industry Skills

The Industry Skills section offers a selection of options ranging from Forklift Driving to Site Safety.

Forklift Driving

Half day course, 8.00am–2:00pm, held at various times throughout the Term. Some Saturday mornings may be available (only if requested).

Please check your forklift course date carefully once allocated (your date will be visible beside your name on the Master Roll) and contact Mrs Bevin as soon as possible if you wish to change the date. You cannot change your course date within three days of the course running. If you do not turn up to your course on the day the cost of $155.00 will still be disbursed.

Where: Mainland Driving School, 3/6 William Lewis Dr, Sockburn, Christchurch

Training Provider: Mainland Driving School

Training Fee: $155.00 plus transport if required

Areas of Study:

  • OSH requirements for forklift driving;
  • practical experience in operating a forklift;
  • Forklift Operator's Certificate for both inside and outside work;
  • NCEA Level 3 (7 credits).

Site Safety

When: Half day course, held at various times

Where: 90 Carmen Road, Hornby, Christchurch

Training Provider: Site Safe

Training Fee: $100.00 plus transport if required

Class Size: This course can be organised for individuals

Areas of Study:

  • Building Construction Passport is a course designed to ensure all workers coming onto a site have a basic understanding of their health and safety responsibilities;
  • highly interactive course – workshops, quiz format, discussion and videos;
  • useful for future apprentices or tertiary students seeking holiday work.
