Old Collegians Newsletter

Thursday 27 October 2022

Welcome to the last OCA Newsletter of 2022 and what a busy year it has been with still plenty of events coming up here at St Andrew's College.

At the end of last term we hosted a special reunion where we welcomed nearly 100 of our Old Girls back to celebrate 30 Years of Girls and co-education at the College. It was a wonderful event and it was great to have so many of our original girls here to share their memories and catch up with old friends.

On Friday 14 October we had another very well attended Gentlemen's Luncheon combined with the 70 Years On (Class of 1952) where 90 of our Old Collegians, aged between 74 and 99, joined us for a concert in the Centennial Chapel and then over to Strowan House for a delicious lunch. It was lovely to see so many return from last year too.

Our OCA Golf Tournament is finally happening at Waitikiri Golf Club tomorrow with close to 100 registered for this. Thank you to Paul McEwan (OC 1971) who, once again, has put so much of his time into organising this.

We will be at the Canterbury A&P Show every day so make sure you come to site L13, outside the livestock pavilion, where we will have some tasty treats, cold drinks and some comfy sofas to rest your weary legs. We will also have some merchandise for sale, including Old Collegian ties, so if yours is lost or a bit tatty we will have a fresh one waiting for you!

On Thursday 10 November we welcome our 10 Years On, Class of 2008–2012, and we are looking forward to showing them what has been happening since they left the College.

You will see we have some dates for our 2023 Reunions in this newsletter. I am awaiting a confirmed date for the OCA Annual Dinner and the 1st XV Rugby Reunion and I will publish these on the website when they are available.

This Sunday we are pleased to present StAC Attack 2022. As an Old Collegian of St Andrew’s College, we are sure you have many memories of the St Andrew's Pipe Band from your time here so please come along and reminisce with us!

From The Old Collegians Association President

In August at our OCA AGM, we farewelled our outgoing President, Meg Black (OC 2010), and we welcomed Sam Crosbie (OC 2009).

The St Andrew’s College spirit is alive and well within the Executive and the Old Collegians network. This was evident at the 30 Years of Girls reunion last term, and more recently, at the Gentlemen’s Luncheon in October.

I am honoured to serve the Old Collegians as President and look forward to connecting with as many of you as possible.

GRANDPARENTS' DAY 2022

On Friday, we hosted over 700 grandparents at St Andrew’s College in the Centennial Chapel for our annual Grandparents’ Day. The fact that we had not been able to hold this popular event for the last two years brought out record numbers. It was wonderful to see so many Old Collegians sharing this special day with their grandchildren.
