Solar panels installed
Thanks to the generosity of the St Andrew’s College community, the solar panels funded through the 2025 Annual Giving appeal have now been fully installed across the Pre-school and Junior Department. The $120,000 project, completed by Harrisons Solar over the Christmas break, marks an exciting milestone in St Andrew’s commitment to a more sustainable future, says Head of Development and Community Relations, Tomo Yee.
“With the hardware now in place, the system is moving through its final setup and commissioning stages before beginning full operation. Once live, it will generate renewable energy for the campus, helping to reduce reliance on the grid and deliver long term savings on electricity costs.”
The College is also exploring opportunities to integrate real-time solar data into learning programmes, inspiring students to engage with renewable technology in meaningful ways, he adds.
“This project stands as a testament to what our community can achieve together, and we look forward to sharing updates as the system comes online.”
Religious Education Block refurbished and renamed
Invited guests, Board members, and staff joined Rev. Paul Morrow and Teacher in Charge of Te Reo Māori, Wiremu Pickering on Wednesday 11 February to bless and officially open the refurbished former Religious Education Block, now called the Burnett Wing. Two new Science laboratories, two refurbished Religious Education classrooms, and new Registrar and Timetabling offices were included as part of the refurbishment.
The name, Burnett Wing, honours the Burnett family and their long‑standing relationship with the College, which dates back to the 1920s. Over many decades, the family’s generosity has included the Burnett Block built in 1965, the establishment of the St Andrew’s College farm in 1977, and sustained financial support for the teaching of Agriculture. St Andrew’s College is also the principal beneficiary of the Burnett Valley Trust.
New Preparatory School playground
Preparatory School ākonga are enjoying their new playground, with plenty of smiles, movement, and outdoor play underway. The space has been designed to encourage active play, connection, and well-being, supporting students’ physical development and social interaction during the school day.
