Open Days
Ngā rā tuwhera
Open Days are a chance to see St Andrew’s in action, meet our people, and experience the College community first-hand. Each March, families are welcomed onto campus for guided tours, conversations with staff and students, and opportunities to explore the learning, co-curricular, sporting, and pastoral life of the College.
Which Open Day should I attend?
St Andrew’s holds separate Open Day experiences for families interested in the Secondary School, Years 9–13, and the Preparatory School and Pre-school, Ages 2–Year 8. This allows families to focus on the stage of learning most relevant to their child.
Secondary School Open Day
The Secondary School Open Day gives families the opportunity to experience life in Years 9–13. Student guides lead tours of key learning and co-curricular spaces, including the Music Department, TV and Media Studio, High-Performance Fitness Centre, Strowan House, Ngā Toi – Performing Arts Centre, and the Centennial Chapel. Families can see lessons, demonstrations, and sports training sessions in action, and gain a clearer understanding of the academic, cultural, sporting, leadership, and well-being opportunities available in the Secondary School. The event concludes with an address from the Rector in the Centennial Chapel.
Explore Boarding at Open Day
Families interested in boarding are invited to attend a dedicated Boarding House tour as part of the Secondary School Open Day. This is an opportunity to meet boarding staff, view the boarding facilities, and understand how boarding supports students in Years 9–13
Preparatory School and Pre-school Open Day
The Preparatory School and Pre-school Open Day gives families the opportunity to experience the learning environment for children from ages 2 through to Year 8. In the Pre-school, staff provide personalised tours, while student guides lead tours through the Preparatory School facilities. Visitors can observe classroom demonstrations and regular lessons in action, and explore specialist facilities for Art, Music, Drama, Dance, Science, Food Technology, individual music tuition, outdoor sport, and play.
