Esports

Esports is an international gaming competition which involves individual and team events on a wide variety of platforms and games. Current worldwide viewership of Esports competitions is over 500 million, with revenue from these competitions being in the billions. Esports incorporates software development, hardware development, marketing, event management, competition and community building.

St Andrew’s College Esports is focused on providing students with opportunities to compete in competitions and become a part of the New Zealand Esports community. Our primary focus is to help students develop healthy habits around gaming, exercise and diet.

The current competitions are run through the Ministry of Education funded group ‘Victory-Up’.

The present season is based on the national timeframe, beginning in April and running through to September each year. Students new to Esports are trained in existing teams and are placed in teams with students from their own year group (especially when first arriving at the Senior College, Year 9 students are placed in teams with other Year 9 students as a way to help foster new social connections).
