This elite course is a Years 11–13 co-curricular activity, and therefore occurs outside the academic timetable (classes are currently before school Monday, early evening Monday, lunchtime Wednesday, Thursday after school). Ballet ‘Intensives’ are also held throughout the year, typically on Sundays. Refer to the Ballet Company Curriculum for detailed information.
There is no enrolment form for this course. Year 11–12 students should select the Ballet Company as one of their Sports and Cultural options for the following year. Dancers are then formally invited to join the Company by Dr Cairns. An experienced dancer new to the school in Years 12–13 are most welcome to inquire about an audition to enter the Company. Please contact our Ballet Academy Artistic Director, Dr Carolyn Cairns at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the school to request a return call.
As this course is a co-curricular activity, it has a term fee ($400). This covers all your classes (which can add up to 5–6 hours per week), all guest tutors, all special events such as our ‘Ballet Intensives’, all extra performance rehearsals, and highly subsidised costume hires.
"Dr Cairns is passionate about ballet and it shows in both her teaching and interactions with her dancers.
Ballet has helped Katie with her poise in other areas of her life – she walks tall and straight, she can keep a calmness about her even in nervous situations and has confidence to achieve and perform in front of others."
"I appreciate Dr Cairns' complete dedication to developing each dancer's abilities to be the best they can be. Her regular communication and thorough organisation is much appreciated as a parent."
