St Andrew’s College has a proud sporting tradition, supported by excellent sports fields, which are available for hire depending on the time of year and ground conditions.
The main rugby/cricket field, known as Number 3, was completely upgraded at the end of 2016, including drainage, re-levelling, and the laying of a new sand-based carpet.
In summer, St Andrew’s has a close relationship with Canterbury Cricket, which often hires the College fields, cricket nets and Ager Cricket Pavilion for its under-age representative teams for matches and training.
The grounds can also be leased to sports teams staying on campus, including touring rugby teams under controlled conditions on the shoulder of the winter season.
Supporting the main field is the Ager Cricket Pavilion, a single storey, standalone brick building, located close to Papanui Road, with a lovely park outlook.
The pavilion has a capacity of around 30 people, with facilities including a kitchenette, toilets and two changing rooms.
It can be hired for small meetings and conferences, to support hire of the main field, and even as a classroom.
The Ager Cricket Pavilions is well utilised, and hired regularly by Canterbury Cricket and Defensive Driving.
