REGULUS ADDRESS // ISSUE 1 // MAY 2026

At the end of last year, the Board approved the College’s new Strategic Plan, Weaving the Future with the Threads of Tradition; Whatu ate anamata ki ngā whenu tuku iho.

This plan provides a clear direction for the years ahead and reflects the aspirations of our community. Our heritage and traditions remain an essential part of the College’s character. At the same time, the plan recognises that our future will be shaped by how we weave these traditions with new ideas, opportunities, and ways of learning.

The plan begins with a statement which anchors us clearly in who we are:

Founded on Presbyterian Christian values and Scottish character, we provide an outstanding holistic educational experience in Aotearoa New Zealand, helping our people become the best version of themselves.

It is a reminder of our heritage and our purpose, preserving what matters most while continuing to evolve.

Our shared values of Truth, Faith, Excellence, Inclusivity, and Creativity remain central to everything we do. These values run through the four key threads which will guide the College in the years ahead; Science of Learning and Art of Teaching; Outstanding and Holistic Educational Opportunities; Well-being: Growing and Caring for our People; and People, Partnership and Place.

This strategy reflects the many conversations held with our community over the past year and will serve as a touchstone for future planning and decision-making. The next stage, already in progress, involves translating the strategy into action through the operational plan. This is where the work begins and where the collective effort of our community will make the difference.

The Board is fortunate to work alongside a strong senior leadership team who are beginning to bring the plan to life with staff, students, parents, and the wider community. It’s great to see the four key threads referenced in the weekly Rector’s Comment, and increasingly reflected in the daily life of the College.

Alongside this strategic work, progress continues on the College’s Property Master Plan. McIldowie Partners will present feedback to the Board at our March meeting, followed by a design presentation expected in May.

Of course, strategy alone doesn’t create success, culture is also important. Our culture is grounded in shared values and embodied in the way we treat each other. It reflects who we are including elements of our Presbyterian faith, Scottish heritage, and relationships with manu whenua. Our task is to strengthen and shape what already makes this place special so that it continues to flourish.

Our vision is clear: where people belong, grow, and flourish to make a positive difference in the world.

We look forward to achieving this together.
