Talented dancer Anika Boet says her time in the Ballet Academy at St Andrew’s, along with taking Ballet as an NCEA subject, was imperative in her transition towards a professional dance career. Having constant access to studios and a theatre directly on campus, alongside yearly examinations, awards, and many opportunities to perform to large audiences, pushed Anika to become a more confident performer and further develop her artistry and stage presence.
These skills proved invaluable when she completed a Diploma of Dance at Brent Street School of Performing Arts, followed by a post‑graduate course at Transit Dance in Melbourne. After graduating, Anika performed in independent contemporary works including Against All Logic at the Sydney Fringe Festival and Grey Rhino at the Sydney Festival.
In 2023, Anika joined Sydney Dance Company, touring works by Rafael Bonachela throughout Australia and internationally across Europe and North America. Memorable performances included appearances at the Royal Opera House in London and the Lincoln Center in Washington DC.
Anika is currently completing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) at the University of Sydney, drawing on the skills and experience gained through her professional dance career to help others better manage their bodies and sustain themselves in demanding physical environments.
