Drama

Whakaari

Drama has been an integral part of life at St Andrew’s right throughout the College’s long history. Today this legacy continues through our strong creative team, who lead a cohort of enthusiastic, talented students to produce impressive productions across all year levels.

The Senior College Production is a major event on the cultural calendar, which is open to Year 11–13 students interested in singing, dancing and acting. Auditions are held in Term 4 of the previous year, with rehearsals commencing in Term 1. Students are required to attend an intensive week of rehearsals in the last week of Term 1 holidays. The show opens for a six-night season (Monday to Saturday) in either week 2 or 3 of Term 2.

The annual Middle School Production for Year 9 – 10 students is another popular event, with auditions and performance times to be confirmed.

Students also have the opportunity to learn about and get involved with behind the scenes roles, such as sound, music and lighting, costumes, make-up, set design, props, stage management, directing and producing.
